At one point I found a note Marj had left tucked under a rock on the side of the trail. It said, ‘I think you're ahead of me but just in case you're not, I'll meet you at Goldmeyer Hot Springs.’

Goldmeyer was eleven more miles from where we were, which was Dutch Miller Gap. It was already after 5 PM, so we starting blitzing down the trail. When Poo got tired, I tucked her under an arm and carried her. We covered that last 11-miles in 3.5 hours, finally crossing a new bridge over the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie. Then we trudged the extra 1/2 mile up a side trail to the Hot Springs, fantasizing about the soon-to-be-reached moment when we could just lie down and not have to get up for awhile.

I eagerly checked out each campsite to find Marj. I found a lot of other people, but not Marj. She wasn't there. I felt like crying. Poo felt like biting my ass for pushing her so hard. Dejected, we hobbled back down to the Crest Trail and followed it a little bit further south ... and still couldn't find her.
