Ranger Linda is gone! The station is locked up for the season. That turd – she was supposed to have been here for one more day! Crap. I had been looking forward to having tea with her tonight.

It is her loss actually, because I am going to have dinner instead with another PCT through-hiker, Ron. He has set up camp nearby and was markedly interested in my pudding supply.  He knew about Don and Larry and was pleased to hear that they had made it through and were probably out by now.

It was a pretty uneventful day, hiking along the trail under partly cloudy skies. We rolled along comfortably and eventually saw the welcoming strip that was the road leading to Harts Pass in the distance. Funny, when we started off it had seemed such a violent intrusion into the wilderness; now it was a welcome beacon to the way home.
